Welcome to ScamAtlas. By downloading, installing, or using the ScamAtlas application ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
ScamAtlas provides AI-curated, city-specific scam intelligence, safety tools, and travel briefings. The App is designed to help travelers make informed decisions. ScamAtlas is an informational tool — it does not guarantee your safety, prevent all scams, or serve as a substitute for personal judgment, local law enforcement, or official government travel advisories.
Important: ScamAtlas content is generated using artificial intelligence and public data sources. While we strive for accuracy, scam tactics evolve constantly. Always exercise caution and verify critical safety information through official channels.
You must be at least 13 years old to use ScamAtlas. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 13 and that the information you provide is accurate. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
The free tier includes the Three-Hour Shield arrival briefing, top 5 scams per city, the QR Code Scanner, city search, offline Shield data, and Signal location sharing via SMS (limited sends). The free tier is available at no cost and is not time-limited.
ScamAtlas Pro unlocks the "Scam?" real-time scam identification hub, full 8-category dossiers, Hidden Camera Sweep, Wi-Fi Checker, Timestamp Vault, offline dossier downloads, AI-powered action plans with recovery guidance, and enhanced Signal features including multi-channel delivery (SMS and WhatsApp), unlimited sends, and the Check-In Timer automatic safety net. Pro is available as a monthly subscription ($6.99/month) or annual subscription ($49.99/year).
All subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's payment terms. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Settings. We do not offer refunds directly — refund requests are handled by Apple per their refund policy.
You agree not to:
All content in ScamAtlas — including scam intelligence, city dossiers, briefing text, tool interfaces, icons, animations, and the ScamAtlas brand — is owned by ScamAtlas and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
The Hidden Camera Sweep tool uses your device's camera to assist in detecting infrared light sources that may indicate hidden cameras. It is not a guaranteed detection method. False positives and false negatives can occur. ScamAtlas is not liable for undetected surveillance devices.
The QR Scanner uses AI to analyze URLs for potential phishing or tampering. It is an assistive tool and does not guarantee that a scanned QR code is safe. Always exercise caution when visiting unfamiliar URLs.
The Wi-Fi Checker identifies potentially suspicious networks based on common patterns. It does not provide comprehensive network security analysis and should not replace a VPN or professional security tools.
The Timestamp Vault creates timestamped, GPS-tagged, cryptographically sealed records of photos and videos. When you seal a capture, a SHA-256 hash (digital fingerprint) of the file is recorded on our server with an independent server-generated timestamp. This provides verifiable documentation that a specific capture existed at a specific time and location. Your actual photos and videos remain on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
The Timestamp Vault is a documentation tool designed to assist you in recording conditions and preserving evidence. ScamAtlas does not guarantee that Vault captures or server-verified seals will be accepted as legal evidence by any court, legal authority, arbitration body, platform, or institution. The Vault does not constitute a notary service, legal certification, or forensic evidence chain. Vault data is stored locally on your device — we are not responsible for data loss if you delete the app or lose your device without exporting.
The Signal feature allows you to share your GPS location with up to 5 trusted contacts you designate. Free users send location via their device's native messaging app (iMessage/SMS). Pro users send location server-side via Twilio to each contact's preferred channel (SMS or WhatsApp).
ScamAtlas is not an emergency service. Signal is a convenience tool for sharing your location with personal contacts. It does not contact law enforcement, emergency services, or any monitoring center. Message delivery depends on network availability, carrier conditions, and third-party service uptime — ScamAtlas does not guarantee that Signal messages will be delivered successfully or within any specific timeframe. Do not rely on Signal as your sole means of communication in an emergency. Always call local emergency services (e.g., 911) when in immediate danger.
The Check-In Timer (Pro only) sends your location to your trusted contacts if you do not check back in before the timer expires. Timer delivery is subject to the same network and service limitations described above. ScamAtlas is not liable for any failure or delay in timer-triggered message delivery.
By using Signal, you confirm that each trusted contact you add has consented to receive location-sharing messages from you via ScamAtlas. All Signal messages are transactional and user-initiated — they are sent only when you tap "Share My Location" or when a Check-In Timer expires without a check-in. Message frequency depends entirely on your usage. No automated marketing or promotional messages are ever sent. Message and data rates may apply.
To stop all messages, remove your trusted contacts from Signal settings or disable the Check-In Timer within the app. Message recipients can reply STOP to any ScamAtlas-delivered SMS to opt out of future messages from your Signal. For full details on how messaging data is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
ScamAtlas may include links to third-party products and services within city dossiers, arrival briefings, and tool recommendations. These may include eSIM providers, transportation apps, VPN services, accommodation platforms, and other travel-related tools. Some of these links are affiliate links through which ScamAtlas earns a commission on resulting purchases or signups at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate links are labeled within the app. ScamAtlas selects partner services based on their relevance to traveler safety and convenience. Affiliate relationships do not influence our scam intelligence, risk ratings, or safety recommendations. By clicking an affiliate link, you are leaving ScamAtlas and interacting with a third-party service governed by its own terms and privacy policy. ScamAtlas is not responsible for the products, services, content, or practices of any third-party partner.
For Pro users, Signal messages are delivered through Twilio's messaging infrastructure. By using Signal with server-side delivery, you acknowledge that your GPS coordinates and your contacts' phone numbers are transmitted through Twilio for message delivery, subject to Twilio's terms of service and privacy policy.
ScamAtlas is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
ScamAtlas shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of money, property, or personal injury arising from your use of the App or reliance on its content. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
ScamAtlas content is generated using AI and curated from public sources including travel forums, government advisories, news reports, and blogs. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy and freshness, but we cannot guarantee that all information is current or complete. Scam tactics change frequently, and local conditions vary. Always cross-reference critical safety decisions with official sources.
You may delete your account at any time by going to Profile → Settings → Delete Account within the App. Account deletion will permanently remove your personal data from our servers within 30 days. Local data (including Timestamp Vault captures) must be exported before deletion, as it cannot be recovered. Active subscriptions should be canceled separately through Apple.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to ScamAtlas if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to other users, the App, or our business. You may stop using the App at any time.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ScamAtlas shall be resolved in the courts of New Jersey.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. Continued use of ScamAtlas after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
